Cool features of the new and improved PhillyTapFinder!

We’re thrilled to announce that the new PhillyTapFinder has launched!  We’ve been working very hard with our brilliant developers at New Philosophy to create a seamless and enjoyable experience to satisfy the Philly beer community’s thirst to find its favorite beers.  While the content is mostly the same as the old site (constantly updated tap lists with the ability to search and browse by bar, beer, style, and hood), you will find that the new version is even easier to use.  And thanks to my loyal users because many of the changes that we made were raised by you guys.  We love feedback and meaningfully consider all suggestions that you make.

Here are the changes that I believe that you will find most interesting:

  • The Landing Page.  We’ve created a landing page so that you can quickly get to where you want to go.  From here, you can do a keyword search (we’re still working out a couple kinks with the search) or browse by bar, beer, style, or hood.  This control panel will get you where you want to be quickly (Bar|Beer|Style|Hood)::
  • The Grids. No more scrolling up and down on the beer and bar lists.  This frustrated some of my users so we made the switch to a grid, which results in  less scrolling and a more efficient way to find what you’re looking for.

You will love some new features about this bar page.  The default is in alphabetical order, but you can now click on the “recently updated” button on the left side of the page to have the bars sorted by when their tap list was last updated.  This will be very helpful to you and will also be an incentive to the bars to send us updates often because it will move them closer to the top of the list.

  • Twitter & Facebook Integration.  Find a beer that you like or want to tell your friends about an incredible tap list that you found, you can send that info directly to Twitter and Facebook.
  • New Content Management System.  We made a made upgrade to our content management system so we can now make tap list updates on the go.  The quicker we get the updates posted, the more accurate the information will be.
  • Events. You will see that there is a space on each bars’ page that is dedicated to special events.  We are still working on this, but we will be linking to event tap lists from this space.  As many of you know, we often have those lists before anyone else.  We are not aiming to be a comprehensive events website (there are a bunch of those out there), but we will continue to supply the tap list information that many of you want.

We also have a bunch more advertising options available for bars, breweries, distributors, festivals, merchandise, etc.  If you are interested in the details, please get in touch with us.

Enjoy the new site.  If you have any questions or suggestions, please email us at any time. We’re pretty pumped about this so enough reading and visit the new PhillyTapFinder.
